I am staying in Ecuador currently and I've found quite a few interesting species, like this one, I think maybe a Fishing Spider in the genus Dolomedes, and if not, maybe some sort of Two Tailed Spider.

Oops! Accidentally posted this twice.
I just found something creepy. I was able to see your photo’s GPS location, place name, map, date, time, and kind of camera you have through copying your photo to Google photos then Google Lens. When I flicked the photo upward, all of that was visible underneath it. I know websites can do that, but I didn’t think people could do that with someone else’s photo that was posted online. There’s lots of bad possibilities there. I couldn’t replicate it with other photos on SpiderID, just yours. With other photos I get time and date of the photo, not camera… Read more »
It’s the photo’s metadata that I can see. I don’t think even time and date should be available metadata. I’ll contact Google Maps tomorrow to ask them to change the info exposure. They actually immediately deleted 23,300 photos from Google Maps that I explained were stock photos spammed onto incorrect locations as a prank or to boost Google Local Guide ranks levels to get prizes. So, I think it can be fixed to protect your personal info. I don’t want anyone to be unknowingly exposed to extra risk from a stalker or thief.
That’s weird. I used my iPhone for that picture and it was just on the regular photos app. Thanks for telling me!
Maybe it was a bit of a security breach bug? This usually doesn’t happen on my photos, though I wouldn’t know, cause I don’t have google lens on that new google pixel phone. Trust you’re up to date on your mobile and compact camera devices.
It said you were using an iPhone X. You had to have had Location set for on. I keep Location on only when I travel to help me find out where I took pics. Google Photos is really intrusive, it labels locations on my photos based on images. It labeled some of my New Hampshire photos of a field of wildflowers as being a specific place in Spain. Many of my pics get categorized as “Jungle, ” which is funny considering they are of vines in the “Projects” housing of the inner city. I haven’t been able to pull the… Read more »
I couldn’t replicate it with any photo from any camera on various sites. Some other sites lock down photos so that they can’t be transferred easily. For sites like Bugguide and SpiderId it is useful educationally to be able to lift photos. I sent a link of the photo to Google and requested an answer as to where the data exposure comes from. For now, shutting off Location or blocking it from your photos should block it.
It only happens on your Ecuador photos.
Well, I have a whole batch of photos ready to post in the next couple of days, like 6 or 7. I’m not really gonna be doing much photographing though, because yesterday I think I ate a piece of undercooked fish and now I have food poisoning. It really sucks. I stayed up all night vomiting. ☹️ Do you think there is any way to disable the location of the photo after it being taken? You seem pretty knowledgeable in these kinds of things.
Awww, thanks. I’m too knowledgeable about food poisoning too. It’s probably not a pathogen, the flesh of fish is fairly sterile. Not that I’ve ever had sushi deliberately. It sounds more like a toxin. Some fish, like catfish, have poison glands. Toxins create GI symptoms much more quickly and violently than an infection. They go away quicker too. That’s true “food poisoning ” VS “food-borne intoxication “. Some Staphylococcus bacteria make a toxin as a waste product that can create fast-onset GI symptoms. These bacteria are pretty common but become a problem when they are mixed into food at room… Read more »
I found a way to erase the info! You can change a lot of the location data collection in your settings under location services. I shut the location access off on all apps except when I’m using them and need it. There was a story on NBC World news on the 19th about the extensive data collected on millions of people’s locations. They recommend shutting off the location access as much as you can. Also clear the marketing personal identifier data in Settings. It starts you over for the data collected as if you were someone else that they are… Read more »
