Comments & ID Thoughts
Would you be able to identify this spider?
This spider was found indoors on the wall in one of our bedrooms.
It is reddish- brown, and looked rather ‘flat’ with straight legs against the wall. Could it have been ‘delivered’ within the hay-delivery for our bunnies?

I think this is Pisaurina mira, a Nursery Web Spider. The body color and stripe marking vary by individual spiders. They aren’t dangerous to people. They do live in Virginia, but it could have also been delivered.
They’re in the same family as Fishing Spiders, Pisauridae. Both types are very good at holding onto flat vertical surfaces where they can watch for prey without being noticed. They blend in with the background much better in nature than on indoor walls. I’ve seen them prey on grasshoppers and katydids. So your hay theory is quite possible.
