She’s a Cross Orbweaver, Araneus diadematus. I’m surprised to see her alive in the Winter in Canada. It is usually too cold and dry and there aren’t enough flying insects for the adult Orbweavers to survive. They usually choose to be over the front entrance when there is a light on at night. The light lures nocturnal flying insects and the spiders take advantage of the situation. Did you have a “killing frost” yet this year? I live in a Northern US state.
