In case a more clear photograph of the web helps, here is a wider angle. The web was located approximately 5 feet above the ground between small trees in a garden in Koyasan monastery. Any help in identifying this spider is appreciated!

I’m pretty sure this is Cyclosa argenteoalba. It doesn’t have a common name in English. It is popular for internet photos because of the “ghost” markings. Thank you for including the web in a photo. It does help by showing that the spider can make an orb web. That narrows down the possible families. The Cyclosa genus is interesting because they weave together the bodies of their dead prey in a rope of silk. The woven dead insects resemble the shape and colors of the spiders.
