Congratulations, you found a Black Widow. There are a few species, in Utah you probably found Latrodectus hesperus, a Western Black Widow. They aren’t aggressive spiders, they don’t want interaction with larger animals, like humans. They won’t win that fight. She just wants to hide in a narrow dark place where she can’t be seen or reached by predators. Me too. 😉 She mostly uses her sense of touch to navigate her life.
