Saw this spider in my basement where I live in south central Indiana along the river that borders Kentucky, havent seen any others

It’s a male Nursery Web Spider, Pisaurina mira. His role in life is to find one of the females of his species and mate with her. If he’s living in your basement, he isn’t doing well on the mating scene.
I suppose I shouldnt move him outside, nights are about to get below freezing, and I dont want him to suffer or die ๐
Thanks for caring. ๐ He should be okay outside if you have leaf litter in a spot a bit shielded from wind. Maybe under a porch or in a shed or compost bin. He needs to be ready to move when he picks up the pheromones of a female that’s ready to mate. There will be other males that he’ll have to race to get to her.
