Comments & ID Thoughts
Found her, along with her smaller mate in a tin barrel in the basement. I want to say she’s a northern black widow, except she shares some patterns with the brown widow. Any suggestions?

It’s probably Parasteatoda tepidariorum, a Common House Spider. They have a similar shape to the Widow spiders. The markings are random-looking, like a calico cat. They have mixes of shiny black, white, gold, and silver blotches. They can be found both indoors and outdoors. They favor human structures, I’ve found them on porches, my house foundation, and wooden bridge handrails. They aren’t dangerous to people.
