We have always called this a crab spider, but I'm not sure of it's actual name.
We see them in the woods. They make a beautiful, very neat web.
I live in south Mississippi.

Hi, she’s Gasteracantha cancriformis. I think cancriformis means “crab-shaped.” The common name we use on this site is Spiny-backed Orbweaver. I like their webs too, they are very fine delicate little versions of an orb (circle) web. Hiking in the woods of South Carolina was difficult because these spiders had webs every few feet in every direction. I liked watching them move their pointy bodies around on their dainty webs, they moved in a slightly rotating way. Most of them are white with red and/or black spikes.
