Comments & ID Thoughts

Found this guy in my crawlspace, unexpectedly I might add as I reached for the piece of wood on the right. I also find these inside the house 2 or 3 times a year. Any idea what this is?

The big hairy spider reaching for your dangerous combustibles is a Dark Fishing Spider, Dolomedes tenebrosus. They stick to walls very well and have eyes that amplify light (eyeshine) and reflect camera flash. You have two large Cellar Spiders, family Pholcidae, in the photo also. They are hanging in their resting positions, like broken umbrellas, in front of the brick wall to the far left and far right. None of them are dangerous to humans.
