Comments & ID Thoughts

I think this is some sort of ground spider, but I cannot find a photo of another spider like it (I think I may just not be searching the right keywords) I've been sort of passively looking to identify this spider for a year now and I'm more curious again as I've seen another at my parent's house recently. Not exact date that I took the photo, as I dont exactly remember when I took it. It was definitely around may though.

I think this would be a Hacklemesh Weaver, probably Amaurobius sp.. Their abdominal patterns can be a bit varied, but often include the vertical chevron pattern. A bit faded here, but you can see the pattern: https://spiderid.com/picture/1130/

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 This is a Hacklemesh Weaver (Amaurobiidae), in the northwest the genus is likely Callobius: https://bugguide.net/node/view/948684
