Comments & ID Thoughts
I'm really hoping this is not a brown recluse. I live in western Pennsylvania, and we recently had an elementary school infested with them. I know they are not common, but I'm worried they may be hiding out in the attic where it's nice and warm in the winter. It has some differences from the recluse (no violin shape), but the eye pairing is what has me worried--it looks as though it may have the same pairings as a recluse, although it looks like it may be 3-2-3 instead of 2-2-2, but the spacing is the same as a recluse. Put my mind at ease and tell me it's not a recluse! Thank you for your help!

You are right, with 8 eyes it is not a Recluse. It looks like one of the Crab Spiders in the family Thomisidae.
Hi, this is a Running Crab Spider, Philodromidae, Philodromus sp.. Not one to worry about. 🙂
Thank you so much, both of you! I feel much better! 🙂
