Comments & ID Thoughts
Here is another picture of the two spiders together, of which I’m wondering if they are British Cave Spiders. They have different markings but we’re found together inside a bucket that had another bucket inside it. They were sleeping and woke up after about a minute of light

Hi. Can anyone help me identify the above spider?
Hi. Both of these look to be female Steatoda nobilis, noble cobweb spider/false black widow.
The lighter colored one may be penultimate and not developed such contrast as the other.
Odd thing here is two females in such close proximity, normally they don’t play well together and one becomes lunch.

Hi. Thanks for that. Any idea what two females might be doing hanging out together?; bearing in mind that you said one would normally become lunch for the other?…
Only a theory they may have been seeking shelter from inclement weather and like dark places to hide.
The only scenario I have seen non social spiders group together.
Thanks. They gave me a bit of a fright when I first saw them but good to know my garden is their home, and hopefully they’ll refrain from eating one another!
