Is this a different coloration of Argiope Aurantia (Black and Yellow Garden Spider)? The spider was found in a chicken coop near the ground. Garden spiders have been seen nearby, although with yellow instead of white.

Yes. I just looked through the Argiope aurantia photos we have on file https://spiderid.com/spider/araneidae/argiope/aurantia/ and realized that this species has many color variations that I never noticed. My favorite variation in the photos is the yellow and silver spider. I don’t think it is known why there can be so many color variations within a species of spiders that live near each other. I’ve noticed that too. Does anyone know if there has been research on why individual spiders vary in color like this?
