Pisaurina mira with hatchlings in nursery web. That’s an awesome photo! Thank you for sharing it. I’ll use this as my example photo when explaining nursery webs. I love the added bonus of it looking like a spider army captured a squirrel. 🙂 It looks like the web is so densely-woven that it protected the hatchlings from being injured by the force of rain drops. It’s also tightly woven enough to keep parasitic wasps out. I don’t know if this is a species that has hatchlings disperse by ballooning. Thanks, it was fun finding the spider family- on a squirrel I made-and learning more about them. They are all still there I am going to be do a nursery check to see when they leave. As of July 21 all are in the nest and are doing well! Yup, I recognize those local names.
