Probably common. I found in a window sill at night in a pile of debris, but I am not sure that that is where he/she was originally, but it had to be close of not there.

False widow

You were close. This spider is in the same family, Theridiidae, as the Widows. The colors markings are what we use to tell them apart. Most False Widows don’t have any white and none have red, so you came to the best conclusion. Though they are in the same family, False Widow’s venom is much weaker to our bodies and not medically significant. The pile of debris is probably the dried remains of bugs she killed.
