Comments & ID Thoughts
Steatoda triangulosa in defensive pose. It attempted to confront a larger spider that bumped into its web, but changed its mind. It has the 4 left legs together wrapped around its ventral surface and the 4 right legs wrapped in the other direction.

How do you make it say what kind of spider it is?
I’m the Moderator. 🙂 I have the programming access. Otherwise, you can’t. We hope to add more moderators in the future so more photos can be filed into the statistics. For the last four years we have just been writing the identification in the comments because none of us volunteers had the access.
So you can put the names on them if you know what it is?
I can. It takes a while to process, I can’t label all of the photos. I try to focus on labelling photos of species if it is a first photo of the species for the location or if it shows interesting aspects, like the design of the web. I posted this one because different types of spiders pose in different ways when they are afraid and I hadn’t seen what this species does before.
