That’s a yellow garden spider (Argiope aurantia).
Thank you KeithEA! The only spiders in the USA that have venom considered medically significant are: Black Widows, Brown Widows, and Brown Recluses. Those are the ones that are useful to memorize in case of a bite. Other spider bites can lead to an infection from the puncture wound, itching, pain, swelling, but are mostly okay.
