This is a species introduced to California from Europe. Your photo is an interesting look at a variation in the abdominal marking. It looks like the gold marking is raised areas of chitin over vital organs, like the hearts.
Thank you so much for the information. With the unusually wet weather we had at the beginning of the year there are significantly more spiders and insects than ever. I walked onto our balcony and this one somehow landed on my shirt. My partner knocked it off, collected it, I took this picture and then he released it.
