https://bugguide.net/node/view/2019 You found the Fishing Spider Dolomedes vittatus. They’re fun to observe, they feel for prey in water by keeping their feet on the water. They also hunt visually away from water.
Oh thank you! We never saw a spider like that.
Down here in GA we call that a “Six Spotted Fishing Spider”. Do not know off hand if it is Vittatus or not. It is a genus Dolomedes. I have one in my water feature pond and It is beautiful but I wish she would change her diet. She loves my mollies and gambusa(mosquitofish). Watched her catch one just today…sorry I didn’t have my camera at the time.
