I’ve got a lot of these guys on my balcony.
Central Illinois
Their bellies are about the size of my thumbnail.
They stay in the center of their web day & night.
Anyone know what they are??
I’d also like to know if they plan to come indoors when it gets cold? They’re hanging out on my windows and doors & I don’t mind that, I just really can’t handle these huge guys in my house LOL.

Hi, they are orbweaver spiders, the females have big abdomens because their abdomens stretch as they eat and as their eggs get bigger before the females deposit them in egg sacks. The males are small. They seem to use windows and doors often. They make a good support frame for a web. They probably can’t see the windows and doors as solid planes. You probably found out that they don’t infiltrate houses in autumn like other small creatures attempt to.
