Larger than most spiders we see around the house. Approximately 2" across including legs. Found on ceiling in kitchen. Never seen one like this before.

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 Rather an awkward angle, but I think that is a False Wolf Spider (Zoropsis spinimana).

The front view in that article is pretty similar to the front views we took… except the coloring on ours was more yellowish.
And this paragraph mentions our area: While most people will squirm at the sight of the spiny false wolf-spider, scientists are keen to chart the creature’s range since its recent arrival on British shores, a movement also witnessed in the United States where it has become established in the San Fransisco area.
