Gorgeous. 😀
Note to admin.: genus needed for Lycosa hispanica. Also suggest adding “in retreat/burrow” to attributes list.
Species created, added in retreat.
I found out it’s Lycosa hispanica. I was doubting with L. fasciiventris but I’ve been told only L. hispanica builds
burrows.
Really? I see a lot of images of Lycosa in burrows, I can’t vouch for the IDs on them though as so many are stock photos.
I meant between L. hispanica and L. fasciiventris, only L. hispanica makes burrows.
Ah, I see. What do I look for to separate L. tarantula?
Lycosa tarantula is not found in Spain. The L. tarantula of Spain were separated in a new species, L. hispanica.
OK, that makes sense now. I should read that paper. (species request updated)
I see it now. I actually had already downloaded that paper (Planas, Fernández-Montraveta & Ribera, 2013) last night but I missed the very helpful range maps when I gave it a quick look-over.
Yes, actually Planas and Ribera are my colleagues here in the department where I work in the university 😀
Awesome, it’s no wonder your IDs are consistently solid.
