Comments & ID Thoughts
Garden spider which I believe to be the Nephila Edulis species has made itself at home in my Camellia hedge in the backyard and has been there for several weeks. Spider measured from point of rear legs to point of front legs is approx. 5.5-6cm suggesting a large female. Colours vary from tan brown to black with yellowish mottling on abdomen. Web also has several small leaves and bottle brush nuts woven in.
