Comments & ID Thoughts
This tiny spider appeared on my hand while I was sitting on a little wall bordering a water system in a park: Falaj Daris in Oman/Middle East. It jumped to the floor when I reacted surprised, and walked towards me, not shy at all.

Thank you! This family seems to be vast, do you know any openly accessible website with a catalogue? Being a lay person in this field, I have been looking for a search engine differentiatibg leg and body colours etc. – does any such thing exist? I hope this is the appropriate place to ask such questions … if not, please excuse.
No worries, this is exactly the place to ask.
You could try the Arabian Arthropods site at https://tinlight.smugmug.com/NaturalHistory/Arabia/Arabian-Fauna/Arabian-Arthropods/
It’s not a comprehensive catalogue, but may help to get you started.
The ultimate resource is the World Spider Catalog at https://wsc.nmbe.ch/
You can navigate to the family then search the catalogue for species that have been recorded in the Arabian Peninsula. This will give you a series of candidates that you can check further to nail down a possible identification.
Good hunting!
Thanks for the Arabian Arthropods site info I added a new “Favorites” link to add to my collection of spider sites.
For Jumping Spiders there is also the Peckham Society site: https://peckhamia.com
And another Favorite site for my tablet!
I’m not positive but this could be the Zebra Jumping Spider (Salticus scenicus), has close to the same head markings
This is a Menemerus semilimbatus
