Comments & ID Thoughts
Guessing at Steatoda grossa; hoping for confirmation that it’s not a Latrodectus, because I’ve found at least eight in my garage just tonight. This is the largest of them, and I’d guess the abdomen is about 12mm (1/2”) across. Couldn’t get a good shot of the underside of this one, but another specimen was more helpful (I just don’t know how to submit more than one photo yet).
Any ID or other tips welcomed, as my wife is a little freaked out! (...okay, so am I!)

In case it helps 🙂
Hi, and welcome to the site. This is definitely Steatoda, one of the false widows, S. grossa would be appropriate., you can breath a little easier with these around.
Many thanks for your welcome and confirming info. I will share the good(ish) news with my dear wife, and maybe then show her the photos (I’ve only hinted so far). These little ladies are certainly living well in my garage – there are dozens of dead bugs and other spiders scattered beneath their webs – and I’ll see if we can all coexist in peace … at least until they show up inside the actual house.
Thanks 😀
I have found cohabiting with spiders quite easy, not like these will overrun your living space.
Out of the way and webs not an eyesore, I share my place.
Bound to be a stray sooner or later.
