I’m no expert, but due to the abdomin I took the guess false widow, however it seems to big and it’s out of season.

Thank you for the help, BugmanDan. One question- how could you identify this so easily? I find spiders rather intriguing myself, but I’m certainly no professional. What signs should I look for to determine a species or danger?
Hi Zinc, We have these here in the northwest US also, My sisters place has lots of these year round, and you play with as many as I have, you just get to spot them instantly. With nothing to judge size, a smaller, near identical spider is what we call hobo spiders, and most average people can’t distinguish the European house spider. You have no spiders of medical significance in the UK, but they are venomous much like an ant or bee, I have just never been bitten by these even trying to provoke a bite. In the UK we have 4 species of Eratigena. So it’s not possible to identify by photo and would require genital determination.
