Marbeled orb weaver. Araneus marmoreus.
Species Araneus marmoreus – Marbled Orbweaver – BugGuide.Net
Araneus trifolium? Same markings, different color scheme. The legs tend to be 2 colors instead of A. marmoreus’ 3 colors of bands. A. trifolium is fuzzier too.
Good points. Becaus of so many variants with orb weavers, it is hard to tell.
That is where a ventral shot comes in handy, especially showing the scape.
Looks like an orb weaver of sorts but I have learned a select few other breeds look like orb weavers…. but this guy…. we got his cousins here in Wisconsin and I’m almost certain it’s an Orb.
