A friend of mine said it is some variety of Dock Spider. I found it in the woodpile, with a thick web nicely made between two logs beside each other, though it wasn't on the web when I found it.
House resides right beside Seal Pay Park, and is heavily forested.

Hi, this is a Giant House Spider (Eratigena atrica or E. duellica).
