Comments & ID Thoughts

Cleaning out my garage and this thing scared me terribly. Probably at least 3 inches maybe bigger. Worried it may be a brown recluse so I got it in a jar. If it’s not harmful I’m gonna let it go. Please respond ASAP

It is the Southern House Spider, Kukulcania hibernalis, definitely not a Recluse.

Yep. She’ll prey on less desirable things. 🙂

Hi. Just a note, the adult males are often mistaken for recluse. This genus has a strong sexual dimorphism and genders look different. They are considered totally harmless, not known to bite.
I had 5 females living in my last place to deal with crickets, good job too.
If you have recluse, these will kill them also.
